Kat, Incorrigible, by Stephanie Burgis.
Pros:
Regency era middle-grade fantasy!
Clearly influenced by Diana Wynne Jones and Joan Aiken!
Adorable, funny, and I’m hoping for a sequel!
Cons:
Some adults may find it confusing in the way that some adults find DWJ’s books confusing. BUT THAT’S THEIR PROBLEM!
