Bookshelves of Lesser Doom

A spot for my on-the-fly mini-posts:
Most everything else is at Bookshelves of Doom.

Matched, by Ally Condie
I see why Twilight fans have taken to it, though it does have elements from Fahrenheit 451, The Giver and Feed in addition to the lurrrve triangle.
Unlike Bella Swan, the main character is occasionally assertive and quite often acts on her own initiative. I didn’t find any of her sneaking around particularly suspenseful, though—the story didn’t ramp up until the last ten-or-so pages. Which is big slog for a cliffhanger-ish lack-of-payoff.
Eh. I’m kind of curious to see how it’ll play out in the next book, though.
